About Maria

I never felt so afraid and so alive at the same time!

In September of 2019, I was on a Camino, a spiritual pilgrimage, backpacking solo across Spain.

It was just me, myself, and my backpack walking about 20K a day, starting in Ponferrada and finishing in Santiago de Compostella, 10 days later.

On the second to the last day, in a moment of sheer frustration and divine intervention, I experienced a game-changing moment.

I wasn’t able to find a place to sleep that night because all of the albergues were full and I was starting to panic. I didn’t have the energy to walk another 3 or 6 or more kilometres that day and I stopped on the sidewalk, looked up into the sky and burst into tears saying, “What am I going to do?”

In that very moment, my friends who I had met on my journey showed up across the street and called out to me, “Maria, Maria!”

Looking back, I thought to myself, I could not have planned that moment any better if I had tried and with that insight, I got the idea to write a book.

Fast forward to 2022 and I’m happy to say, I’ve finished writing my story and I’ve self-published my novel. It’s called, Closer to Indigo.

My readers like books in the following genres: Narrative Nonfiction, Memoir, Literary Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Historical Fiction, Crossover Upmarket/Literary, Book Club, Spiritual, and Travel.

I am currently based in Victoria, BC, Canada and my qualifications include an Honours BA in English Literature from Western University plus I have certifications in Life Coaching & Mentoring, Spa Therapy, Energy Healing, and Crystal Reading.

Also, I have contributed articles to Brainz Magazine and a chapter to a bestselling multi-author book entitled, Raising the Bar Volume 6: Conversations with Industry Leaders Who Go ABOVE & BEYOND for Their Customers! published in April, 2021.
