I’m wearing my Ammolite ring as I write this post.
I love my Ammolite ring because I feel I was in the flow state when I bought it.
I went to a Gem Show a couple of years ago at the Pearkes Recreation Centre in Saanich, BC. I remember when I first entered the space on the Saturday morning in August, the room was just buzzing! All of the people were in good spirits and it was as if all of the gemstones and crystals were waking up!
I didn’t know what I was looking for exactly at the Gem Show so I just kept my mind open to whatever jumped out at me. When I go to these types of shows, I like to start at one end and go through all of the booths, one by one, in order, all around the large room to see everything available before I make any decisions.
Somewhere in the middle of the room, there was a man selling loose, polished Ammolite gemstones for custom jewellery.
I’d heard about Ammolites before from my friend who wore her Ammolite necklace one day and I asked her about it because it was so colourful, unique, and lovely.
She said it’s from Alberta and she bought her jewell as a present for herself for her 50th birthday!
I made a note of the name, Ammolite, for future reference.
Meanwhile, before I left for the gem show, my mother had given me a gold ring that didn’t have any stone in it to see if I could find something for it. She said it used to have an unknown pink stone in it but when she had it cleaned, sadly, the pink crystal disintegrated! Afterwards, the naked ring sat in her jewellery box for years, waiting for a second chance to shine.
The gold ring itself has its own history. According to my mother, her parents somehow procured the ring while they were living in a displaced persons camp in Austria in the 1940’s while they were en route to immigrate to Canada.
So, my gold ring is an antique and has an ancestral tie to my family and I’m grateful for the sacrifices my grandparents made to ensure future generations (i.e. me) could lead a better life.
By the way, because Ammolite is from pre-historic times, it also symbolizes our ancestors!
Anyway, I showed the gold ring to the Ammolite sales rep/jeweller. He thought he might be able to help me find something suitable.
As we were looking at the different configurations and narrowing down the options, it seemed like the noise around us in the big room hushed and I lost track of time. I was in the zone.
We looked for colours, shape, and size, and I trusted his recommendations. Together, we found a beautiful square-shaped cut that has all of the colours of the rainbow in a pleasing pattern!
But would it fit? What if it cracks? What if the prongs that hold it in place snap off? The pressure to marry the two pieces together was on!
I held my breath and stared at the ring and the jeweler’s nimble hands as he fastened everything in place!
And then it happened! Everything came together beautifully!
The Ammolite jeweller carefully inserted the delicate Ammolite gemstone into to gold ring setting. He gently folded the prongs down to secure the stone in place and voila! A new ring was born!
I put my new Ammolite ring on my finger and beamed with delight!
Not only does my Ammolite ring connect me to my grandparents, it also taught me a valuable lesson about how creativity and manifestation work.
Earlier, I said I felt like I was in the flow state while I was buying this ring and I meant that I just let things unfold in their own way without trying to force my ego, or try to control the details, or insist on my own agenda.
I just played it by ear and followed my nose and let whatever wanted to emerge to show up. Not always easy!
I felt like I was trusting my intuition as I followed the metaphorical breadcrumbs, and somehow I managed to create this beautiful and powerful Ammolite ring for myself.
The next time you have an opportunity to bring different worlds together and create something new that never existed before, I hope you feel inspired by my Ammolite ring story.
Ammolite inspires me because it’s a natural miracle. The events that were set in motion millions of years ago, that had to take place in order for me to wear this ring today on my finger, are beyond incalculable. It’s literally the impossible becoming possible!

Big News! Effective as of July 1, 2019, I’m so happy to announce that I’ve changed my business name from Crystal Clear Coaching to Ammolite Wellness Coaching!
I hope you like the new name, Ammolite Wellness Coaching and logo I’ve created as much as I do! I particularly like how there are two m’s, two l’s and two s’s in the name!
The Symbol Works on 3 Levels:
In my mind, the symbol I drew for my Ammolite Wellness Coaching logo, works on three levels.
First, the colourful spiral represents the appearance of the rainbow-coloured Ammolite gemstone. Notice the rainbow pattern in the lines – it was a stroke of luck how I figured out how to do that in PhotoShop! – more on the significance of Ammolites here…
Second, the three-dimensional spiral path that travels and curves around a never-ending central point is both part of the structure of the Ammolite itself and is reminiscent of a labyrinth – more on the significance of spirals and labyrinths here…
Third, the circular shape in my Ammolite Wellness Coaching logo also looks like a brain which is a nod to mindfulness and to the modality and process of wellness coaching, as I see it! — more on the significance of wellness coaching here…
Pretty clever right?
Ammolite Wellness Coaching represents a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to expanding my reach in the world with this new business name!
But rest assured, I’m keeping all of the good things from before, including the domain name www.MariaKoropecky.com (for now), Crystal Mapping, Colourful Self-Care, and high quality, Wellness Coaching sessions!
And even though I have a new business name, Ammolite Wellness Coaching, I’m still going to continue helping women and the men in our lives to feel stronger, wiser, more vibrant, and more empowered than ever before!
If you’d like to talk with me more about my Wellness Coaching services, especially if you’re interested in focusing on Intermittent Fasting and Wellness Walking to start, book an appointment for a Crystal Mapping Session today!
And let me know what you think of the new name, Ammolite Wellness Coaching and logo! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Even though practicing self-care is not selfish, for some reason, many of us feel uncomfortable about putting ourselves first on our own list and taking the time to take care of ourselves.
We’ve got to turn this thinking around because at the end of the day, if we don’t nurture our own body, mind, and spirit, and take care of ourselves, like we would a child, a family pet, or a even a plant, we won’t have anything more to give to anyone else.
Self-Care vs. Selfishness
There’s a big difference in attitude between self-care and selfishness.
Self-care is about giving attention, kindness, and nourishment to yourself so you can be at peace with yourself and be fully present for the people you love.
Being selfish is about focusing solely on one’s own ego, interests, agenda, gains, and superiority without concern for anyone else’s needs or preferences.
Selfish people don’t think about giving to others. It just doesn’t occur to them.
But Don’t Give Too Much Either!
There are also people who want to give and are very generous — they’ll give the shirt off their back, so to speak, — but they don’t have enough for themselves.
Giving from a place of lack is also misguided. If you have an extra shirt and you’re not using it, than that’s one thing, share it with someone else if you want.
But if you only have one shirt and you give your one shirt to someone who already has a shirt, leaving yourself without any shirts, to face the elements without any cover, than there’s a problem.
If you’re scrambling and struggling while you’re trying to give to others, than you’re not being fair to yourself and eventually you’re going to burn out. And then what are you going to do?
Leaving yourself with some measly crumbs or with nothing at all is not what generosity and self-care are about. Sadly, people who are depleted give too much because they don’t feel like they’re enough.
I think abundance and scarcity are two sides of the same coin. The opposite of scarcity is enough, or what I call wholeheartedness, vulnerability, and worthiness; facing uncertainty, exposure, and emotional risks; and knowing that I am enough,
~ Brené Brown
Say it with me: “I AM ENOUGH. I am enough and I am worthy – right here, right now… today… exactly as I am!
Use Fountains as Reminders & Give from Your Abundance!
“Never give from the depths of your well but from your overflow.”
Mystical poet Rumi
Give from your abundance! I strongly agree!
Giving generously is at its best when it comes from your abundance, like from the interest in your bank account rather than from the principle. Never give the goose away!
If you have extra of anything, by all means, give it to someone who will appreciate it.
For example, everyone has an excess of hugs and smiles to give and I’m sure everyone has at least one talent that they can share with others.
Give your gifts freely and with joy. Give from a place of having enough and that you are enough already.
However, if you don’t have it to begin with, things like time, money, or energy, don’t try to scrape the bottom of the barrel and think you’re being helpful.
In other words, fountains can’t fount if there’s nothing for them to draw from.
My point is, we’ve got to fill up our own well and keep it overflowing and fill our own needs first before we can give to and help others.
That’s where self-care comes in. Taking care of ourselves keeps our wells topped up. (Notice how the words “wells” and “wellness” are related). 🙂
I often see one my coaching clients wear her lovely rose quartz earrings when we meet! That’s a simple act of self-care that anyone can practice.

On Fat Tuesday, I went to a birthday party and ate a few slices of really good pizza along with a piece of fancy birthday cake from a bakery.
Two days later on March 7, I spontaneously decided to give up eating snacks and desserts for Lent.
I really like to eat potato chips, cookies, and ice cream whenever I have the chance but during the six weeks of Lent, I was only allowing myself to eat three square meals a day, with nothing in between, often for five, six, seven, eight plus hours each day, my version of Intermittent Fasting.
What is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is a scheduled eating plan that is more about when you eat than what you eat. If you leave several hours between meals, (rather than eat a little bit here and a little bit there and a lot over here), you give your body a chance to process and digest your food more efficiently.
Basically, I ate whatever I wanted during my three meals a day (including bread, potatoes, meats, and cheeses) but that was it to the next meal.
To me, Intermittent Fasting is related to the Keto Diet in the sense that Ketosis occurs when the body burns stored fats for energy rather than using quick sugars and carbohydrates.
It’s like going back to the warehouse to buy something rather than taking it off the shelf in the store.
Once you start burning fat for fuel, you’ll start losing weight. But remember, one little grape will knock you out of that process, so it’s important to not introduce any sugars what-so-ever into your fasting time.
Did you know the word “Breakfast” comes from “breaking the fast” from the last meal you had the day before?
I had tried Intermittent Fasting a couple of years ago with great success so I already knew what I was getting myself into but this time was quite different from the first.
The first time I tried Intermittent Fasting, I basically coasted through it.
I didn’t realize that this time I’d be embarking on a spiritual quest, filled with days of emotional upheaval.
Yes, I often felt hungry and cranky and tired but I stuck with my eating plan because I realized that I no longer wanted to stuff down my feelings and numb myself out with food. Emotional eating wasn’t going to be my coping strategy anymore and I wanted to face my feelings and my demons head on.
In my mind, as hard as it was to get through the rough patches, the intense emotions actually meant that I was dredging up a lot of old emotional junk that I had been hanging onto for decades.
Each day as I fasted, I was releasing and clearing tons of emotional baggage so it wouldn’t weigh me down anymore and keep me from living the life of my dreams. Being emotional was actually a good sign!
To me, snacks and desserts represent too many extra and unnecessary calories and I was trying to run on approximately 1500 calories a day, without actually counting anything. I’ve learned that we really don’t need as many calories as we think we do.
The good news is, as of Easter Monday, I’ve managed to release 12 pounds in just over 6 weeks, which is less than 2 pounds a week, which is a very healthy and sustainable pace. I plan to keep going.
My Guidelines for Intermittent Fasting
Of course there are many approaches you can take if you want to try Intermittent Fasting and/or the Keto Diet but here are the guidelines that I personally follow.
Talk to your doctor before attempting any kind of significant dietary changes.
Know your big why — I happen to have a big 50th birthday coming up so that’s motivation enough for me!
Weigh yourself and record the weight in a journal. It’s not really about the weight and how many pounds you lose but it’s a good idea to know where you started. The real evidence is how you’re feeling about yourself.
Reduce carbs and sugar — less bread, potatoes, pasta, and rice.
Eat more fat because it helps you feel full and it helps your brain function better and it helps keep things running smoothly.
No snacks, no desserts, no wine or alcohol.
Drink lots of water and tea. In another blog post, I’ll share a Turmeric drink that I discovered that I found helpful and I really enjoy.
See websites that talk about Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting.
Eat three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Try not to eat past 7pm.
Eat mindfully and taste each morsel of food you put into your mouth. Food does start tasting better and better as you go along.
Take supplements including: Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Omega 3’s, Women’s Daily or Men’s Daily, and Magnesium.
Take Wellness Walks 4-5 times a week.
Workout and lift weights at least once a week.
Train to run — I’m up to running 8 minutes!
Find an Acupuncture Clinic and go as often as you can — they can tailor your treatments to help support your digestion and weight loss efforts and it’s really relaxing!
Do stretches daily.
Reach out to old and new friends and have one meaningful conversation, (preferably face to face and in person), each day.
Get a good night’s sleep every night.
Crystals that might help include: Amethyst, Angelite, Bloodstone, Blue Apatite, Calcite Alabaster, Carnelian, Citrine, Garnet, Labradorite, Red Jasper, Rhodonite, Rose Quartz, Sunstone, Tiger’s Eye, Turquoise.
Good foods for weightloss include: Low carb/high fiber veggies, avocados, Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese, olive oil, coconut oil, berries, nuts, dark chocolate, fish/seafood, meat, poultry.
Eat lots of orange foods like carrots, salmon, and mango — they’re about honouring the Divine Feminine within all of us.
Meditate every day.
Check weight at least once a week and record your progress in a journal along with any other significant details (like your mood or wins or the weather, etc).
Practice daily self-care.
Relax and manage stress.
Clear clutter in your environment.
Live from your essence and take your ego out of it.
Assure yourself that this isn’t starvation and that you’re doing this for your long-term health and you will eat lots of good food every day.
Talk to a Wellness Coach, like me!
Intermittent Fasting isn’t easy but eventually you get used to not eating as often. Somehow, I managed to get through baking without sampling, cooking breakfasts for crowds, 3 dinner parties, 1 restaurant lunch, potato chips in the house, and Easter brunch without giving into temptation.
Now, my skin in clearer, my hair is softer, my eyes are brighter, my pants fit better, and I’m living more as my authentic self. To me, that’s worth it and I’m planning to continue to eat like this for the foreseeable future.
If you have any questions about Intermittent Fasting or would like some Wellness Coaching, please contact me, Maria, by email.
“Welcome a reminder out of your trust rather ask for a sign out of your need,” ~ Kyle Gray
Do you look for signs from the Universe when your trying to make a decision or when you need a little extra comfort and reassurance? I do.
When we see a sign, (like “City of Victoria, population 84,289”) it means we’re near Victoria and we’re heading in the right direction (if Victoria is where we want to be). Although signs aren’t the actual, physical destination, they are pointing there, which helps.
So when we ask the Universe for a sign, and we’re open to receiving a message in anyway it chooses to present itself, and a sign suddenly appears out of nowhere, it feels pretty amazing!
It’s about trusting the Universe to deliver and trusting our intuition and senses to notice.
For me, when something unexpected shows up in my life, I like to think it’s more than just a random occurrence and it means something special.
Life is full of little gifts and nods of encouragement — you just need to keep your eyes and ears open! And when you spot a treasure from out of the blue, say “thank you!” out loud!
When I was in high school, I took a photography class from a journalist and he said,
“when you’re shooting photos, look for the unusual amidst the usual…”
And that’s my philosophy of life. I always like it when things happen that I just can’t quite figure out or explain, like there’s more to it, something mystical going on. It’s like when people say, “you just can’t write this stuff…”[because no one will believe you].
In my world, signs of life, light, and love appear in many shapes and configurations. They all seem to tell me: there’s something more going on behind the scenes. Here are some of my faves. Perhaps you’re tuned into these types of signs as well.
Coins — “Find a penny, pick it up, and all day long, you’ll have good luck!” I once found a coin that wasn’t in that spot a half hour earlier and no one else was there either, so where did it come from?
Animals — Many people believe in spirit animals. Every time I go for a walk in my neighbourhood, I like to take notice of any animals that may be on my path like, birds (robins, quail, ducks, eagles, crows, owls), bees, butterflies, dragon flies, squirrels, bunnies, deer, cats, dogs, lizards, snakes, raccoons, etc.
Dreams — As we process our events of the day, dreams speak to us in our own short hand so they’re worth exploring.
Books — Books are loaded with meaning on many levels. Have you ever had a book drop off a shelf for you? And have you ever opened a book to a page and found an answer to a question? Pay attention to books. I have a friend who makes a point of reading any book someone recommends to him.
Self-seeded plants — Every now and then, I find cheery plants — like pansies and tomatoes and artichokes — in the oddest places!
Songs on the Radio — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard a song on the radio that was meant for my ears in that moment. It all started when I was a kid and my friend started singing, “Like a Rhinestone Cowboy” and then we turned on the car radio and there was Glen Campbell singing his song!
Smells where you can’t see the source — Once, while I was alone, driving my car on my way to pick up my brother, I could smell gin and cherry pipe tobacco which instantly reminded me of my late father and I’m sure he came along for the ride in spirit.
Overhearing other people’s conversations — Sometimes I can’t help but eavesdrop on other people’s conversations. Once, I was listening to someone tell a story about a girl going to a rock concert and how she met the band and they signed her t-shirt with, “Rock on, Maria!” which is my name too! True story!
Power outages — Make a note of what else is going on in your life when the power goes out. Someone may be trying to tell you to slow down, rest, and take a break.
Cloud formations — When was the last time you looked up at the sky? Whether you see the sunrise or sunset or somewhere in between, the sky is filled with beautiful colours and patterns including unusual cloud formations. The next time you see a cloud in the shape of an angel, take a photo and put it up on Pinterest!
Repeating words — I always think it’s neat when I read a word and in the same moment, I hear someone else (like on TV) say the same word! Have you ever noticed that?
Repeating numbers — Many people find number sequences significant. If you always wake up in the middle of the night at the same time like say, 3:33am, that number means something to you.
Compliments — Whenever someone gives you a compliment, hear it and accept it graciously!
Found objects — Recently, I found a white calcite rock in a parking lot as I stepped out of my car. It was pretty so I picked it up and took it home. I felt like angels had left the rock especially for me to boost my spirits.
Chance meetings — It always astounds me when people bump into each other far away from where they would normally frequent. In these cases, someone always says, “Small World.”
Flashing lights out of the corner of your eye — Occasionally, I’ll see a flash of light come and go from nowhere. I’ve also seen cats following something “invisible” with their eyes, too.
Often these signs are quite subtle and are easy enough to overlook but the four-leaf clovers are there! I personally enjoy catching a glimpse of something spiritual and I’m open to woo-woo experiences. How about you?
When I notice something new or different around me, I’m reminded that I’m not alone and in truth, I’m OK. That’s the real message and the gift.
Like for example, the other day, I went on a wellness walk through my neighbourhood. I decided to go to my pond to visit my ducks. As I approached the entrance of the pond, I could see someone had left eight roses at the gate for anyone to take.
There they were, eight roses, three reds, three whites, and two yellows, left as a gift, by a thoughtful soul.
I had seen similar roses in that spot about two and a half years ago but not since. The roses were like bookends for a recent big chapter in my life and I feel like now, that rough patch is behind me and I can move forward again.
The flowers just made me happy because they were an unexpected surprise and I felt like someone up there (maybe my late father, maybe my guardian angel, maybe my future husband) wanted me to find those flowers to tell me that I’m loved and I’m on the right track and everything is working out for the best.
That’s what I mean when I talk about signs from the Universe!
Although the roses were a little past their prime because they had been waiting outside, loose for me for awhile, I still thought they were a lovely blessing so I took them home and put them in water and a little vase and took this photo.
The intuitive message I got was, “Late but not dead.” 🙂
And the funny thing is, as I was walking home with my flowers in hand, I passed a house that was blasting Van Morrison’s song, “Into the Mystic” towards the street. Did you know, the angels have a sense of humour, too?
Experiencing new surprises like finding roses means you’re not caught up in the same old, same old rut. It also means you’re allowing more love in! It also means you’re living in the present moment!
Thank you for reminder and for the roses, generous benefactor, whoever you are!

Having a successful workplace wellness program, corporate wellness program, or employee wellness program in your organization will help:
reduce workplace accidents
reduce stress levels
reduce long-term stress leave requests
reduce chronic disease that is driven by unhealthy lifestyle choices and stress
increase employee retention and
Healthy employees are easier to get along with and are more productive than unhealthy ones, so it stands to reason to implement a workplace wellness program and create a corporate culture that encourages health and wellness.
But what does it take for a workplace wellness program to go from ho hum to a humdinger?
If incentive gifts are part of your Workplace Wellness Program, you’re in good company. Many employers offer all kinds of perks that range from $0 to over $1000 – with $521 being the average per person – to motivate their employees and clients to stay the course and meet their health and fitness goals.
As a Wellness Coach and the owner of CruisingIntoWellness.com, I believe that providing incentives to your wellness program participants can really boost engagement.
People love free stuff – I’ve seen co-workers sell 19 copies of a cookbook just to get theirs free!
There are all kinds of ways employers and coordinators can add colourful sparkle to workplace wellness programs including having healthy snacks in the vending machines, offering group coaching, and using the latest fitness apps. Today, I’m just going to recommend giving merchandise.
At CruisingIntoWellness.com, I’m not talking about the all-too-familiar water bottles, pens, t-shirts, keychains, coffee mugs, or mouse pads. Instead, I’ve curated an assortment of fun, unique, and healthy products that I think your co-workers, employees, and customers would really use and enjoy, with the bonus of helping them stay on track with their wellness goals.
Here’s how incentive gifts work:
When your employees sign up to participate in your wellness program, give them a swag bag full of treats and goodies to help them start off on the right foot.
When your employees show they’re making progress towards their wellness goals, CELEBRATE and offer them their choice of an incentive gift within a low to medium budget range. Repeat often.
When/if your employees start showing signs of wavering and there’s a lull in enthusiasm, draw for prizes to boost their spirits again.
And when your employees reach their big milestones, CELEBRATE and offer them their choice of an incentive gift that they’ve been working towards all along, (keep a list of their preferences on file) within a medium to high budget range.
Here are 19 Popular Incentive Gifts For Your Wellness Program Participants from our Incentives Collection @ CruisingIntoWellness.

On February 13th, I had the joy of attending “The Power of Your Words” presented by Caroline Myss at the University of Victoria.
When I woke up that morning, I had no idea I was going to be at UVic by the end of the day. It was a completely unexpected and welcomed surprise. To me, it was a little miracle how everything came together and interestingly enough, Caroline lightly touched on that idea in her talk.
In essence, she said each day is a new day, a new start, a blank slate, and we get to choose our reality, and what we experience, and it starts with the words we use. We have no idea what the day will bring so why not nudge it in a good direction with our words.
I love that Caroline Myss said, “Words are our Magic Carpet!” I must be choosing some pretty good words these days!
I’m grateful to my best client and friend Linda for gifting me the ticket!
It was a big deal for me to go and I actually wore a dress, heels, and make-up to the event. I also decided to wear my rose quartz heart Christmas tree ornament necklace and rose quartz bracelet because it was the day before Valentine’s Day. More on that later…
Seeing Caroline Myss in person (from the balcony) was significant for me. Her book, Sacred Contracts, which I read around 2002-2004, explained so much to me spiritually and I even made my own set of Archetype cards from her list.
But more than that, I feel like I’ve been on a deep and profound spiritual journey of awakening and for the last year or so, it has been intense. Lots of crying, lots of letting go, lots of shedding my old ways. To help me through this process, I’ve been studying the work of Eckhart Tolle.
I’ve been searching for answers to the big questions of life and it’s been very emotional and some people told me that I was depressed and that I needed to talk to a therapist. Caroline Myss explained that people often confuse depression with spiritual crisis but we don’t have the language to express and articulate what’s going on with us, so the depression gets the attention, but not the spirit or soul. Both depression and spiritual crisis can show up similarly, but if you sense you need to find the meaning and purpose to your life, then that’s a clue that you might be having a spiritual crisis this time.
I thought, yes, that’s what I’ve been going through this past year: a spiritual crisis.
That’s good news!
Here’s my opportunity to push through into a whole new dimension of living life and I’m really excited about this breakthrough!
Instead of letting this spiritual heartbreak be my excuse to keep me unconscious, I’m going to use it to help me awaken into consciousness.
That’s the message that I keep hearing from spiritual teachers. Eckhart Tolle says the most important thing we can do for humanity is to be conscious and present.
And Caroline Myss explained that back in the 1960’s, with the introduction of nuclear weapons that can potentially destroy us, “we unleashed a darkness into the world.” However, around the same time, the world religions were also stepping up their presence. The East and the West were talking to each other and big changes were taking place. There was a counter force to the darkness that was also emerging. It’s like two sides of the same coin, one balances the other. In the midst of this darkness, there is also light.
At this point of the talk, this is where Caroline Myss really lit up! I don’t know if it was the stage lighting or something else, but I saw violet light surrounding her. It was like a purple, misty shadow trailing behind her movements. Violet is the most spiritual colour. It’s associated with the Crown chakra, our connection to the Divine, so I knew she was speaking Spiritual Truth.
That’s what we’re called to do. As generations living in a dark, nuclear age, we’re called to be the light!
This reminds me of Bruce Cockburn’s song, “Lovers in a Dangerous Time,” where he says, “You’ve got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.” We are lovers in a dangerous time — lovers in the sense of bigger picture lovers of humanity, not necessarily romantic couples, as I once thought.
But how do you fight the good fight and shine your light when you’re living in fear and pain?
Caroline says there’s no archetype for people who have been wounded but have somehow moved forward, yet still have remained vulnerable. It’s an interesting mix — wounded, vulnerable, and strong. We’ve all been wounded one way or another, on a personal level and on a global level, and we’re really good at re-telling our victim stories over and over again.
But we can’t wallow in the victim role anymore!
Caroline said “Coddling doesn’t serve anybody.” We’re past the point of coddling each other through the pain. I’ve decided I’m not going to entertain those victim stories, either from myself, or my coaching clients, or my friends, anymore.
The better question is, “what strength is emerging” or “what is the gift?” It’s not about the adversity, or our history, it’s about how we respond from here that counts.
And this is what I got from Caroline’s talk: It’s time to retire those victim stories and poor word choices and step up in this critical time in history. Crazy world leaders, missile warnings, and natural disasters are the wake up calls!
It’s time we take our head out of the sand, or put down those distracting devices, or resist those numbing addictions, and instead, be present!
If you feel like you’ve been going through a spiritual crises, as I have, and you’ve been called to shine your light in this world and do something really amazing, then do it! The only one who is stopping you is you. You are in charge of your reality and it’s up to you! The words you say to yourself and out loud will create your path. Choose them thoughtfully!
And that’s exactly what I’m doing starting today. Hearing Caroline Myss speak affirmed in my heart that I’d like to join her and Eckhart Tolle and many others and be a spiritual teacher as well. I’m open to working with a mentor, if you know anybody!
And I’d like to put forth a new archetype, that I like to call Green Leaders, that represents people who have been through the trenches but have also emerged as conscious and awakened leaders with heart. Just because you’ve been through it, doesn’t give you the excuse to be miserable, and mean, or to fall back into unconsciousness. Let the adversity be your doorway to enlightenment.
Let’s define the Green Leader archetype together so we can enjoy Mother Earth for many, many thousands more generations to come! What do you think, Caroline Myss?
The title of this post is, “Don’t lose your heart.” That’s my message for today. Although things may seem bleak, remember, we’re still in the game. Don’t lose faith. Prayers are always heard and answered and miracles happen every day. Caroline finished her talk by praying, “May God hover over us.”
As I was leaving the auditorium, I grazed over something with my shoe. I looked behind me and it was my pink quartz heart necklace on the floor. I quickly retrieved it and as I was picking it up, a woman who saw me said, “Don’t lose your heart!” and she was stunned a little by what she said, so she said it again, “Don’t lose your heart!” and I said, “Noooooo!”
Talk about the “power of words!”
I believe this anonymous woman was speaking on behalf of the Universe in that moment. “Don’t lose your heart, Green Leaders!”
Thank you anonymous woman in the auditorium, and thank you Linda for the ticket, and thank you Caroline Myss for coming to Victoria! Come back anytime!
Did you know Eckhart Tolle mentions crystals in his best-selling book, “A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose,” (2005)?
If you had asked me before I started re-reading this ground-breaking gem, I would have answered, “no, I didn’t know” but I was delighted to read about his appreciation for the mineral kingdom in the opening pages.
There’s more to crystals and flowers and people than meets the eye and I’m inviting you to dig a little deeper and tune into the essence of all beings. By becoming present to the here and now, a whole new world will unfold and new possibilities will emerge — which is super amazing! — and crystals, among all natural treasures, can help open those doors!
The old me would have skimmed over these particular paragraphs but the new me, the more present and conscious me, gets the beautiful connection.
In Chapter 1, “The Flowering of Human Consciousness,” Eckhart introduces us to the heart of his book as he describes a moment of transcendent transformation, the day flowers first blossomed on Earth,
“One day, however, a critical threshold was reached, and suddenly there would have been an explosion of color and scent all over the planet.” ~ A New Earth, page 1
That “critical threshold” is related to the “evolutionary leap” that people experience when they finally let go of their ego and pain body and live from their essence, their true and authentic self.
Remember the expression, “Stop and smell the roses?”
Flowers have always been inviting us to relax, be present, and appreciate the beauty of life, and when we actually take a moment to pause, be still, and focus on the wonder of the present moment, peace emerges.
“Once there is a certain degree of Presence, of still and alert attention in human beings’ perceptions, they can sense the divine life essence, the one indwelling consciousness or spirit in every creature, every life-form, recognize it as one with their own essence and so love it as themselves.” ~ A New Earth, page 4
Loving the essence. That was the clincher for me. That’s why I recently started re-reading a New Earth. I heard Eckhart explain this concept of divine life essence to Oprah on a recent SuperSoul Sunday. When Jesus said “Love your neighbour as yourself,” He wasn’t talking about loving people’s egos. Jesus was talking about seeing past the ego (which is just a costume), and loving someone’s essence, and loving your own essence, and recognizing how the essence of our beings are all connected as One in this great, big, living sea.
Oh, to live from my essence!
When I think of essence, I like to picture a pilot light, if that helps. From what I understand, when someone says, “Namaste” they are saying, “The divine in me bows to the divine in you.” In other words, the essence in me recognizes the essence in you. Essence is what you see when you look deep into someone’s eyes.
Isn’t that much better than dealing with someone’s ego? 🙂 Just remember that the next time someone annoys you.
The ethereal nature of flowers remind us about our true essence.
“…flowers would become for us an expression in form of that which is most high, most sacred, and ultimately formless within ourselves. Flowers, more fleeting, more ethereal, and more delicate than the plants out of which they emerged, would become like messengers from another realm, like a bridge between the world of physical forms and the formless…” ~ A New Earth, pages 2-3
By the way, this way of being, is available to us humans and we can be like messengers as well.
Eckhart continues to say, the flowers
“not only had a scent that was delicate and pleasing to humans, but also brought a fragrance from the realm of spirit. Using the word “enlightenment” in a wider sense than the conventionally accepted one, we could look upon flowers as the enlightenment of plants.” ~ A New Earth, page 3
And flowers are just the beginning! Crystals are here, too!
“Since time immemorial, flowers, crystals, precious stones, and birds have held special significance for the human spirit.” ~ A New Earth, pages 3-4
We as humans have been fascinated with crystals since pre-historic times. When the Greeks travelled and found dazzling quartz crystals in the Alps, they believed these beauties were actually a form of frozen water that would never thaw. They named them, “krystallos,” which means “ice.”
“The haunting beauty of the mineral kingdom is irresistible, so it’s no wonder that the human race has a long history of wearing and working with crystals. Historians and archaeologists have traced the use of crystals in healing and beauty rituals back to the earliest civilizations. And no wonder: They magnify personal and planetary vibrational energy. Our ancestors used crystals as mystical tools, energy generators, communication enhancers, and medical instruments. Archaeological digs show their use as talismans of good fortune and protection; as well as amulets, jewelry, and magnificent home showpieces.” ~ Excerpt from Crystal Therapy, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D., & Judith Lukomski.
Perhaps you also have a fascination for rocks and minerals:
* Do you collect rocks and seashells whenever you go to the beach?
* Do you have fond memories of rocks and stones from your childhood?
* Do you have a piece of jewelry that has a special meaning for you?
* Do you by chance have a Himalayan Salt Lamp?
The Art of Contemplation
The next time you come across a crystal, sit with it and contemplate. Appreciate the stone without trying to own it. See past its outer form and tune into its inner essence. Let the crystal help you expand your awareness. Like a flower, it just might be a bridge on your journey of spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
“So when you are alert and contemplate a flower, crystal, or bird without naming it mentally, it becomes a window for you into the formless. There is an inner opening, however slight, into the realm of spirit.” ~ A New Earth, page 5
Tuning into a crystal is not a crystal reading in the sense of fortune-telling. Once your ego is out of the way, it’s more about how the crystals reveal wisdom and a sense of calmness, through timeless intuition.
“In the case of a flower, a crystal, precious stone, or bird, however, even someone with little or no Presence can occasionally sense that there is more there than the mere physical existence of that form, without knowing that this is the reason why he or she is drawn toward it, feels an affinity with it.” ~ A New Earth, page 4
Is Enlightenment Possible?
“Any life-form in any realm – mineral, vegetable, animal, or human – can be said to undergo “enlightenment.”” ~ A New Earth, page 3
But Eckhart asks,
“What could be heavier and more impenetrable than a rock, the densest of all forms?” ~ A New Earth, page 3
Yet, even rocks can lighten up and transcend their nature!
“And yet some rocks undergo a change in their molecular structure, turn into crystals, and so become transparent to the light. Some carbons, under inconceivable heat and pressure, turn into diamonds, and some heavy minerals into other precious stones.” ~ A New Earth, page 3
In each case, enlightenment requires,
“a discontinuity in its development, a leap to an entirely different level of being and, most important, a lessening of materiality.” ~ A New Earth, page 3
Enlightenment is just a matter of shedding the dark and heavy density (the materiality, including the ego) and moving towards lightness.
Ultimately, that’s how the Universe works!
We live in a dynamic universe and everything is always moving from formless to form to formless and from slow to fast, density to space, heavy to light, and from dark to light, through the ever expanding cycle of:
1) Rebirth * New Beginning (on a whole new level) * A New Earth! -> …
And on and on it goes from one age to the next. You can see this spiraling cycle of life as it’s constantly moving toward enlightenment, playing out everywhere! There are no beginnings and no endings and because everything is always moving and changing, there’s no sense in identifying with or being attached to any of it. The ego has nothing to cling to and so it dissolves, creating space for the present moment to arise. This is true, happy-go-lucky freedom.
So, yes, enlightenment is within reach and as we’ve seen with flowers and rocks, it’s part of the natural progression of the Universe!
Are you ready?
“Can human beings lose the density of their conditioned mind structures and become like crystals or precious stones, so to speak, transparent to the light of consciousness?” ~ A New Earth, page 5
We seem to have reached a time where more and more people are starting to awaken.
“What can you do, if anything, to bring about or accelerate this inner shift?” ~ A New Earth, page 6
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, at the beginning, somewhere in the middle, or at your tipping point, and if you’re reading, have read, or would like to read, A New Earth, and want to talk about your insights and ideas with someone who is open and present and a good listener, please feel free to contact me, Maria. I’d love to connect with your essence.
And if there’s enough interest, maybe we can start a book club!
